Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal program that has helped people get free or low-cost internet. Unfortunately, enrollment for the program was paused on February 7th, 2024 because funding for the program is running out. The program is set to end April 2024, unless the federal government extends funding. For more information, visit: www.affordableconnectivity.gov.

If you are enrolled in the ACP, your internet bill will go back to what it was before the ACP benefit was applied when the program ends. You are responsible for paying that bill, unless you cancel your service or change providers. Use this chart and this checklist as guides on steps to take.

Alliance for Digital Equity

Digital Equity ensures all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy, and economy. The Alliance for Digital Equity's framework focuses on three categories of action to close the Digital Divide - access, adoption, and application - that organizations and communities can take to help everyone to help everyone connect digitally.

The Ask People First Pilot is now in progress at Community Action Pioneer Valley’s (CAPV) Community Resources & Advocacy program. CAPV's Resource Advocates will be using the screening tool to assess upfront the digital needs of people in the community. The goals of this pilot project are to:

  • Learn about the barriers facing people using the internet
  • Provide useful information to people who want to use the internet more
  • Get feedback on the screening tool to refine it for future Alliance projects and widespread community use
