SNAP Work Rules

What you need to know about the ABAWD work rules
DTA has implemented changes to SNAP eligibility requirements based on new work requirement rules from the Trump Administration’s One Big Beautiful Bill that passed in July. These are known as Able Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD) rules. These changes will impact current recipients on a rolling basis because DTA has to screen for all exemptions during the recertification time period. SNAP recipients do not have to reapply or recertify sooner.
Here is what you should know:
- At the end of the approved certification period, the household needs to recertify. Most households also have a recertification interview with a DTA worker to go over any changes.
- Many SNAP recipients also have to re-verify eligibility with an “Interim Report” after 6 months.
- If the household situation changes, they must tell DTA about certain changes. Check the DTA Benefit Decision Notice to see what the household must report.
